Meet: Jeanette MartinĀ
Q: Tell us a bit about your background.Ā Ā
Iām a sun-loving Aussie whoās lived and worked in the Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, India, Thailand and Brazil. I love being a global citizen.Ā Ā
What excites me is empowering myself and others to stretch our awareness to its limits. More clarity, presence, peace, love, joy, and the fullness of life.
I learned to meditate at 17. And that experience taught and liberated me far more than my psychology degree so I trained as a TM teacher. And that choice took me all around the world for 40-plus years teaching and working with a non-profit for world peace.ĀReturning home to care for my elderly mother started a beautiful chapter where I returned to a creative focusāpainting and self-publishing a book on Amazon called Write Your Book at Fifty. And that got me hooked on writingāfreelance and online.Ā
Q: If you had to choose an SEO keyword for your life, what would it be?Ā
Hard to choose!Ā
Bliss or Expansion.
Q: What are your hobbies, passions, obsessions, or what excites or inspires you? What sets your soul on fire?
Stretching myself in new experiences inspires me.
ThatĀ can be with an idea, music, travel, a new culture, a gallery, a podcast or a book. Being in nature and anywhere near water.
And having a deep and meaningful conversation with someone about their passions and inspiration. I find peopleās heartfelt stories fascinating.Ā
Q: What is the most courageous thing youāve ever done?Ā
Trusting that things would work out after finishing a degree (but with no job training) because I knew life would guide me if I followed my heart.
Q: Why do you write on Substack?Ā
BecauseĀ I can be a catalyst for others to grow into their potential and to be seen and heard.
I write to claim the value of my voice and create a meaningfulĀ impact in my life.
To share my writing journey, especially the mindset challenges we all have to overcome. And particularly to help someone a few steps behind me.
I love creating and connecting with creators here.
And enjoy being part of the sane global community that's Substack.
Q: What are your values as a writer/creator?Ā
Honesty.
Clarity. Creativity.
Connection. Courage. Respect.
Generosity. Beauty. Growth.Self-expression.
Q: How do you connect with your readers?Ā
In my Posts and Notes, I share my stories to bring home a point. And curate lessons from my experience and others to help on the writing journey, whether online or as a nonfiction author. Responding to comments to get to know my readers is a favourite.
Iām starting a few challenges in the Chat and want that to be a safe place to share what weāre learning and how to collaborate. Iām building a community of kind creators who love what weāre doing and are there to grow together.Ā
Q: Why did you join the Connected Community project, and how do you find it so far?Ā
To progress together and enjoy a community exchange of support and ideas. I thrive in a generous, lighthearted but practical space with clear leadership. Magdalena creates that and is a joy to just be around.
The project set me up to move ahead and gave me a vision of what community can become here on Substack.
