I must have missed something in this yet another great article, Magdalena. My mind went somewhere opposite of where the current comments are going. Because curiosity and lifelong learning have always been my two cornerstones, or values, I ask questions many times each day, BUT they are not about me. They might be about how Alfred E. Neuman came about and when, or what Harari is saying about AI now, or how I can accomplish such and such within the framework of Substack. Or how did the expression, " Close, but no cigar," come about? I use AI frequently to explore a passing question or to research something of interest to me in greater depth. I recently learned on another Substack that, for people over 80, the biggest factor in maintaining mental alacrity is having gone through many life changes and learned to adapt to new things. This post is along those lines, and I applaud you for getting your readers to intentionally become more curious. Okay, I'm rambling. Great article. Great message. Thanks. Blue💙
Dear Blue: thank you so much for your kind and generous words! I love your questions and your curiosity! Additionally, love your data point about "people over 80, the biggest factor in maintaining mental alacrity is having gone through many life changes and learned to adapt to new things." - which brings a great point of curiosity and adapting and the relationship between the two in our lives...cheers to curiosity! I am genuinely curious about how some days I feel motivated and energized and other days just want to stare at a blank wall. I know its ADHD related, but I really am curious to find out how/why it happens.
I am genuinely curious to find out what it's like to live in a house up the hills, with a garden, vegetables, and fruit trees. To turn the power off at night, and sleep without energy radiation. To wake up before sunrise and stare into the sun when it smiles over the hill. To experience silence in the way that only nature can bring.
I am so dang curious about WHY I am so undisciplined! It has haunted me my whole life. No matter what I read, what I try, how many self-help voices I listen to, I am just not disciplined and I mean with my time! It's very frustrating!
Dear Laura: thank you so much for sharing your inquiry - I think there are many of us "out there" that share the same frustration. So knowing that we are not the only one - I think helps - at least for me I know it does!
It absolutely does because I’ll be honey, I feel like I’m the only one who struggles with this … LOL! So just you saying that was so helpful! Thank you so much! 😊
I am genuinely curious to find out how I can meet and make new friends.
